Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard was left feeling hurt after losing his first game of the pre-season tour to Liverpool 1-2 yesterday. But he also sees the team gradually improving. So he believes they will be ready in time for the 2024-25 season.

The Gunners captain was one of two outfield players to complete the 90 minutes at Lincoln Financial Field. Along with Jakub Kiwior, and signalled his readiness for the season opener against Wolves (17 Aug) UFABET

But the lads still have matches against Bayer Leverkusen and Olympique Lyonnais awaiting them at the Emirates Stadium. So the Norwegian believes there is still time to warm up and prepare for the real thing.

“Whenever we go on the pitch we always want to win.” he told Arsenal TV.

“It’s pre-season, so losing yesterday isn’t the end of the world. But it’s just frustrating whenever we lose a game. Like the second half, they looked better and improved in many ways.”

“It’s been a great week or so, we’ve been getting fitter and sharper again.”

“I think we will be ready, just not at our highest level yet. But when the time comes to really kick. We will catch up for sure.”

“Personally, I feel good – I had a good summer, was well-rested and had time to work out on my own.”

“As for the point where I and the team need to shake off the rust. It’s to bring back the sharpness to the game. I’m confident that we’ll see it in the next 1-2 matches. So, I’m happy.” Odegaard

The Gunners’ key players who have yet to return are three England internationals Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Aaron Ramsdale and the Euro 2024 champions, Spain’s David Raya.
