Alisson Becker, the key goalkeeper for Liverpool, has praised the youngest goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluca for training excellently.
The 19-year-old goalkeeper was a substitute in the game that “Reds” opened the home defeat. Leicester City in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
The Brazilian moved from Fluminense to Anfield in October 2020 and is a regular in the U23 squad,
although Pitaluca may not make his debut any time soon. There were other defenders in the way, but Alisson was impressed with his training.
The Reds have cemented their ranks between the sticks in recent years following struggles early on during Jurgen Klopp’s reign. Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius battled it out at one stage, but failed to truly convince.
“Marcelo is very talented,” he said.
“I’ve watched him a number of times in Brazil. But I will learn more about him here. both as a doormaster and as a person.”
“He’s a special kid. He is very excited for the opportunity to play for Liverpool, now he has settled in. and doing well during rehearsals He trains extremely hard and is devoted to what he is doing. He’s a person who likes to learn.”
“So it’s nice to work with him. Not just because I’m Brazilian. but because he is gifted and a good person.”
